One of the purposes of creating the UN framework classification is the possibility of harmonization of national and international classifications of reserves and resources, i.e. development within the UN classification of formal and additional procedures that allow to compare the results of the assessment of reserves made in different classifications. In the UN Framework Classification such comparison for agreed national classifications is carried out by means of Linking documents. The work on harmonization of the RF Classification of Oil and Combustible Gas Reserves and Resources has continued by carrying out works on approbation of the Linking Document on specific fields and projects (Case Studies). The first results have already been obtained. A temporary task force has been created to define the rules for Case Studies development and a template for case descriptions has been created. It has been determined that the examples will be carried out on the basis of real oil and gas fields in Russia. The fields should be officially evaluated and pass the procedures of examination and approval of reserves in the State Committee of Reserves of the Russian Federation. As a result of the work on creation of Case Studies we will be able to get real results on harmonization of classifications and application of UNFC instructions and guidelines. Probably the changes and additions will be made to the Russian Classification based on the analysis of the best practices of the world classifications and for the purpose of its further improvement and harmonization
